Ferrari F12 Berlinetta one sexy and fast new stable beauty

The Ferrari F12 Berlinetta has been one of the most highly anticipated new exotic cars of the past decade. The Fiat Group masterminds have been racing while contemplating future success of sales, as they officially unveiled ahead of the Geneva Motor Show.

Exhaust Notes shared the spec news about the auto design, saying, “Basically, it’s everything you want in a next-step Ferrari: stronger, stiffer, lighter and more powerful.”

The replacement for the 599 has a number of improvements over the outgoing model. Horsepower gets a massive bump, from 611 to 730; 509 lb-ft of torque is on tap, with 80 percent available at just 2,500 rpm. Curb weight drops from 3,722 pounds to 3,362 pounds, 56 percent of which rests over the rear axle. The F12 has a drag coefficient of 0.299 and stronger downforce compared with the 599, and structural rigidity improves by 20 percent. The all-new aluminum chassis was designed by Scaglietti and incorporates a dozen alloys.

CNet’s car guys also reviewed the hot new ride and had this to say about the F12 Berlinetta:

With all of its drive modes set to their most aggressive, the F12 should pass 62mph (100kph) from a dead stop in 3.1 second and hit 124mph (200kph) at about the same time your stopwatch ticks off 8.4 seconds. From there it can go on to a maximum speed of over 211 mph.

Digital Trends further added, “Of course if this is truly going to be the successor to the 599 GTO then it had better be able to prove it, right? Not to worry, according to Ferrari, the F12berlinetta is able to complete a lap around the Fiorano circuit in just 1 minute, 23 second, besting the 599 GTO and Enzo times which stood at 1:24 and 1:25 respectively.”

What are your thoughts about the hot new Ferrari? Do you think it will end up being one of their best designs or will the exotic car’s sports car design fade quickly from memory when production numbers star so low the car becomes an oddity more than a commodity?
